What is bi-fuel technology? Bi-fuel is the simultaneous combustion of natural gas and diesel fuel in a standby generator engine. Generac has perfected the natural gas delivery system that is factory installed on a mass produced diesel engine. Base requirements are 90% smaller with Generac Bi-fuel gensets.

How does Generac's bi-fuel system work?

• The natural gas delivery system and controls are installed on a typical diesel engine.
• The engine initially operates on 100% diesel fuel.
• When load is applied, the system adds natural gas to the combustion airstream.
• The natural gas / air mixture enters the engine, ignites, and provides additional power.
• The engine governing system then automatically scales back on diesel fuel injection.
